Storyline :
Subhash Nagre (Amitabh Bachchan), who is known by his followers as Sarkar, lives in Mumbai. The opening scenes show a rape victim's father (Veerendra Saxena) approaching Sarkar for justice (which the corrupt law and order system has failed to deliver) which Sarkar promptly establishes by having the rapist beaten up by his henchmen. His son, Vishnu (Kay Kay Menon), plays a foul-mouthed producer who is more interested in the film actress Sapna (Nisha Kothari) than his wife Amrita (Rukhsar). Sarkar's other, more upright son, Shankar (Abhishek Bachchan), returns from the United States with his love Pooja (Katrina Kaif) after completing his education there. Pooja's doubts about Sarkar's image cause Shankar, who firmly believes in his father's righteousness, to break up with her later in the movie.

Storyline :
Vaidehi (Manisha Koirala) lives in New York with her husband Raghu (Jackie Shroff) and in-laws. On the outside she lives a modern sophisticated life, but behind closed doors her husband is abusive and has extra marital affairs. When she takes a stand for herself, she is banished from her husband's household. She goes back to her parent's house in India, but they too reject her, saying that if she returns to her maternal home, she would bring shame on the family. Vaidehi soon finds out that she is pregnant.
Meanwhile in New York, Raghu is involved in a car accident, which results in him being unable to father a child. However, he soon discovers that Vaidehi is pregnant, so he calls her, faking remorse, and asks for her to come back. Vaidehi agrees, thinking that Raghu has amended himself. He and his father plot for the son to become their new heir and if Vaidehi intervenes, then they will kill her. So Raghu sends out some of his henchmen to India to escort Vaidehi back.

StoryLine :
Deshu (Randeep Hooda) is a mechanic in Dubai, who has come home after his mother's death. His father is a dry, gruff police constable. Deshu unwittingly becomes a witness to a murder, when Mangli Bhai's goons chase a man, burst into his chawl, and proceed to kill the man right there. Roughened up by the police to act as a witness, and threatened by the goons to not do so, Deshu keeps his mouth shut. Later, he joins a rival gang (Hashim Bhai's), and proceeds to kill Mangli. Little by little, with his bravery and intelligence he manages to become Hashim Bhai's right-hand man, much to the dismay of his two sons, Muqarram and Shabbir.
Slowly, he becomes the most important member of the gang. Once, a secretary from a film-actress gave him the contract of pulling out her of a trouble of being harassed by a male colleague. The actress, impressed by Deshu's dareness and frank attitude, later becomes his girl-friend.
